Bible Resources

The Bible is full of wonderful assurances and promises for all who believe in Jesus Christ as God’s son. The following set of Bible verses can help you to know God personally and experience the abundant life he promises. All verses are from the New Revised Standard Version Bible (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, Inc., 1989)

God’s love and plan for us

For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3)

Our situation without God

. . . since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

For the wages of sin is death . . . (Romans 6:23)

God’s action

But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Christ died for our sins . . . he was buried, he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures . . . He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred . . (1 Corinthians 15:3–6)

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Our response

But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God. (John 1:12)

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not your own doing; it is the gift of God—not the result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8–9)

“Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20)

And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. (1 John 5:11–13)
