What’s happening in the Westminster sharing garden?

Glad you asked! If you’ve looked recently at the northwest corner of the church property, you’ve noticed the sharing garden which was started last year has doubled in size. Take a walk up the sidewalk and you’ll see lettuce, spinach, collards, kale, carrots, peas, potatoes, zucchini, tomatoes and peppers, and soon you’ll see beans too. Additionally, you’ll find a beautiful flower garden, recently installed bright bottle-cap art signs and a privacy fence that blocks the view of the trash bins. A prayer bench will soon be installed in the pines.

All vegetables harvested from the garden go to Food Gatherers or Riverside Community Gathering. Last year we donated 200 pounds of food.

We give thanks to the Westminster gardening team: Arthur and Marie Howard, Jeff and Robyn Kaiser, Joanne Keeling, Gail Arnold, Robin Hess, Andy King; and soon-to-be Eagle Scout Charlie Sleder (for the bench and fence); to Audrey Buck and Melissa Burkhart for the signs; and to the Westminster children for planting potatoes, and of course, to God for bringing forth the harvest.

How can you help?
