arts and crafts toolsFor those who like arts and crafts, sewing and the like, we have projects to benefit our Children’s Programs. We’re looking for people to cut out simple felt shapes, as well as to make an assessment of our costume collection, repairing and replacing as needed. Please contact Tina Shaw, who will welcome any amount of time you have to help with these projects.

Children’s book drive helps children of missionaries in training. January 1–February 12, please bring new or gently used books appropriate for kindergartners through 12th graders and put them in the box in the fellowship hall entry. Our Westminster Costa Rica mission team will deliver them to the Spanish Language Institute in late February.

Sunday morning classes and childcare

Worship bags are available for use by young children during worship services. The bags contain a bible story book, a lap desk, drawing paper, colored pencils and other quiet-activity items that promote scriptural thinking while keeping young children occupied.

Summer Sundays:

  • Child care for infants through 3 years: 10–11 am in the Beginners rooms (108, near the Greenview entrance). Bible stories and play activities.

  • Children age 4 through second grade may join us in the sanctuary until after the Word Interpreted for Children. They may then meet their teacher at the rear of the sanctuary for Sunday Celebration, a time of Bible stories and crafts. Please note that Sunday
Celebration meets in room 115 for the summer.

During the school year:

Newborns through 24 months are cared for on Sunday mornings, 8:30 am–12:15 pm, in the nursery (room 106, near the east entrance). The nursery has infants’ swings, age-appropriate toys, cribs, and a partition for nursing mothers.

2- and 3-year-olds are cared for Sunday mornings, 8:30 am–12:15 pm, in the Beginners’ room (108). Bible stories, crafts and play activities are provided.

Four-year-olds through 2nd graders attend the first part of worship with their parents. Following the Word Interpreted for Children, they may go to Sunday Celebration, a time of Bible stories and crafts. Parents may pick their children up following worship in room 45 on the lower level.

Pre-kindergartners through 5th graders attend Worship Center classes on Sunday mornings during the school year, 10–11 am.

The heart of our Children's Ministry is to touch each child with the love of Jesus by teaching the Word of God in ways that draw children into the Bible stories. Using three-dimensional figures and loving words, we encourage children in their personal relationship with Jesus. We want you and your child to feel welcomed and loved by the body of Christ at Westminster church.

If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact Tina Shaw, Interim Director of Children’s Ministries.
